Regional Growth Symposium: Planning for Prosperity in Hancock County
The Hancock County Planning Commission is pleased to announce the upcoming Regional Growth Symposium titled "Planning for Prosperity". This one day public event will bring the County together to identify opportunities for the future of our communities.
Persons attending the symposium will hear brief presentations on issues confronting Hancock County, including recent economic and demographic trends. Three topics will be highlighted in breakout sessions: business and economic growth, land use and the environment and transportation. Breakout participants will identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats for the county. Dr. Charles Colgan, Professor at the University of Southern Maine will deliver a lunch time presentation on state and regional economic trends with examples of proactive community efforts in other parts of Maine and the U.S. to enhance local economies and quality of life. Following lunch the three breakout groups will reconvene to draft a vision for Hancock County, including strategies for building a more prosperous future. The symposium will conclude with presentations from the three break-out groups which will help to chart future efforts at the town and county levels.
A Registration fee of $15 includes morning snack, lunch and materials.
